Julian Perkins Discusses His Philosophy of Handel’s Messiah in First of Three-Part Interview Series

 
 

Julian Perkins recently began an epic three-part interview series with Oregon Artswatch, to help promote the upcoming performance of Handel’s Messiah by Portland Baroque Orchestra and Cappella Romana, for which he is serving as artistic director. In the first interview in the series, the conductor and harpsichordist gets philosophical about his opinions on Messiah, dropping tidbits of knowledge such as the fact that he likes “giving only a little time between most movements so as to maintain dramatic thrust”.
