Conductor Patrick Quigley was recently interviewed by OperaWire about the upcoming performances of Edmond Dédé’s Morgiane, which Quigley is conducting for Opera Lafayette and with OperaCreole/Louisiana Philharmonic. The recently-discovered Morgiane is believed by many to be the earliest complete opera by a Black American, and has never been performed before until now.
